River's Edge Hotel & Spa

The location is great although its unfortunate you have to pay for parking on top of the price of the room. Rooms are really nice with a beautiful view of the Willamette. Front desk was kind however the bartender/ cook of the mill was major buzzkill. Acted very inconvenienced for having to do her job. Straight up told us she wasnt going to cook anything during happy hour because she was by herself. That interaction is whats going to stick with us after our stay here.

Note: This review is based on my personal experience during my stay on 4/4/24 through 4/7/24. I stayed on the top floor in a 1 King Bed W/balcony/river View/sofabed. Summary: This is a nice hotel as long as you go into it with the right expectations. If you eat here it will be good, but expensive. Its about a 12 minute walk to OHSU and its just outside of the busy downtown area so its quieter, but not within comfortable walking distance to downtown places. Its clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Expectations: Before staying at Rivers Edge Hotel you must consider your expectations. This hotel was recently remodeled and is part of Hiltons Tapestry Collection. That means it is nice, but they do not provide certain amenities that you may expect at some other hotels. Pros: Friendly staff Clean Comfortable Quiet Air Conditioning Heating Free WiFi Coffee Kit Fridge Spacious Restaurant available Close to OHSU Less in the city so its quieter and more laid back. Parking has security cameras Gym on second floor (I would not have known this if it wasnt for Aeryn at the front desk who told me as I was leaving. She was very helpful and accommodating during my stay.) Cons: Often more expensive than similar hotels Parking Fee (Similar to most hotels in the area) No continental/free breakfast No discount at the restaurant Food at the restaurant is good, but expensive ($12 + tip is $15 dollars for a breakfast burrito) No pool No room service Minimal staff Farther from anything other than OHSU. Not ideal for walking to downtown locations. What would change this to a 5 star review? Continental breakfast or a sizable discount on breakfast at the restaurant. Rooms: Clean and comfortable. Walkability: Within comfortable walking distance to OHSU, but not much else. Food & drinks: No continental, free, or discounted breakfast. The restaurant is good, but expensive.

Perfect location So close to downtown but in a much nicer, quieter, relaxed area. Room was spacious and nice, absolutely loved the balcony. Brief front desk interactions that I had were pleasant. The balcony had a great view out the river and it was so pleasant. I would recommend staying here :)

Not super-stellar luxury, but I love the location and peaceful vibe. I had great experiences with the people who work there. I stayed here a couple of years ago when it was deep in re-construction. That time was not exactly disappointing --it still was clean and accommodating -- but it wasn't as pretty and didn't have its cafe and snacky-snack nook at all. This hotel is perfectly situated about a half-mile walk from my son and daughter-in-law's South Waterfront apartment, straight along the Willamette Riverwalk. The walk is peaceful and lovely. I will definitely continue to stay here as my home base when I'm in Portland.
