        We had a really nice ski weekend in Vermont and enjoyed staying at the Taconic. Its a well run and lovely hotel. The fireplace in our room was purposefully disconnected with a note that it was done because we didnt pay a more expensive rate, which errs on the tacky side but it was fine.

        You can never go wrong with a Kimpton hotel! The rooms are a delight and the bathrooms are well-appointed, the staff is welcoming and professional, and the restaurant is always top notch. Beyond that, I particularly enjoyed being able to sit by the main fireplace with a book and digestif after dinner. The Taconic really will spoil you for other hotels! Rooms: Clean, comfortable, and very easy to keep a good temperature. The shower was luxuriously large. Food & drinks: Absolutely exquisite! Both dinner and brunch are exceptional, and the seasonal cocktail menu is very creative. You can get a proper espresso, which is surprisingly less common than you'd think.

      Thanks for the review Antonio - we are so happy you had a great time with us and for your ski trip! The fireplace in your room is currently broken. Fireplace rooms are normally more expensive, so the note was just explaining that this room was sold as a 'regular king room' and you didn't pay for something that was broken! Apologies for the confusion there.
